Job Summary
As a Prepress Designer, your primary responsibility is to oversee and manage pre-press tasks, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow with precision and timeliness. This role requires expertise in various printing systems, including Offset, Flexography, and digital printing, as well as a deep understanding of printing theory, color management, and packaging and display design.
Key Qualifications
Proficiency in managing and supervising pre-press tasks.
In-depth knowledge of printing systems (Offset, Flexography, and digital printing).
Thorough understanding of printing theory, including impositions, trapping, overprinting, resolution dpi, printing materials, paper characteristics, and color space (cmyk and pantone/direct inks).
Experience in packaging and display design.
Strong color knowledge, particularly in manipulation for CMYK, Pantone, and special direct colors.
Proficient in color management for offset and flexography printing and proofing systems.
Ability to interpret packaging and display drawings (die-lines).
Effective coordination of pre-press workload to meet deadlines with high-quality results.
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, PDF, and Microsoft Office.
Clear and proactive communication with customers, vendors, and technical personnel, both verbally and in writing.
Maintain organized customer files, ensuring proper naming and storage.
Education and Experience:
Associate's degree (A.A.) Or equivalent from a two-year College or Technical school. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Foster a culture of high-quality standards and efficiency.
Oversee color management, with a focus on manipulation, CMYK, Pantone, and special direct colors.
Coordinate pre-press tasks to meet deadlines with high-quality results.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations.
Review and accurately interpret production orders and printing specifications to process files.
Prepare layouts according to work ticket specifications using appropriate systems, processes, and software programs.
Review customer files and specifications, creating output files as requested.
Communicate with Account Executives regarding job status and problem-solving.
Maintain consistent communication of project details and job status with managers and customer service.
Efficiently use ERP systems for coordination and delivery.
Communicate with customers or printers regarding electronic file issues, addressing problems, questions, and concerns.
Maintain organized customer files by properly naming files and moving old files to the correct account folders.
