Usar background sync em um service worker

Preciso que meu pwa faça requisições para uma api, mesmo com meu site/pwa minimizado ou em segundo plano. A API é usada para localizar em tempo real os entregadores cadastrados no Site/PWA.
O Background Sync, deverá enviar para a API as coordenadas do dispositivo, já possuo o script das coordenadas. A intenção é que os entregadores cadastrados posam usar outros APPS enquanto aguardam entregas. Então ele também deverá ser avisado quando uma nova entrega estiver disponível.
Sendo assim o Service Worker deve fazer requisições para outra api, que irá retornar um html caso encontre uma entrega.

Deverá ser feita também uma maneira de notificar o usuário quando tiver uma nova entrega, um alerta sonoro, notificação ou etc.
