Reimagining the Icimod Identity: A Creative Challenge for Sustainable Development

Published on the July 22, 2024 in Design & Multimedia

About this project

Open

Cimod's mission revolves around promoting sustainable practices and development in the hkh region. Their work includes research, sharing knowledge, building capacities, and advocating for policies that support environmental and social well-being.

The logo design challenge was part of ICIMOD’s efforts to refresh its visual identity. The competition drew over 200 participants, each submitting their creative designs to encapsulate ICIMOD’s mission and values. The process was competitive, and while many excellent designs were submitted, only a few were chosen.

Project overview

The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) is dedicated to supporting sustainable development in the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) region. This vast area includes mountain ranges from the Hindu Kush in northern Afghanistan to the Arakan range in Myanmar, with the Himalayas as its spine. The region is crucial for its environment and the millions of people who depend on it. ICIMOD works with eight member countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan. They aim to improve the lives of the mountain communities, protect natural resources, and tackle the impacts of climate change. Their headquarters is in Lalitpur, Nepal, with additional offices and a Knowledge Park showcasing practical applications of their research.
