1. Build a working demonstrator of the WAN for the customer in GNS3. Use images from the course
material only. Each of the two data centres, head office and the remote site will have a FortiGate
firewall and a L3 device capable of OSPF.
2. Provide a physical diagram for this, showing each site implementing HA.
3. You are asked to provide detailed proposals and costings for a reliable WAN service. This
document is for a technical expert. The head office and data centres must be interconnected with
permanent circuits and the customer requires a minimum of 100MB/s with low latency and jitter,
such that voice traffic may be passed across this network. The customer also wants high
availability, so appropriate redundancy should be provided. How does routing work?
4. You need to provide a technical summary for the solution. This document is for a technical expert.
There are three site types,
a. At the data centres, the customer has servers that they want to be presented to the
Internet. This is to enable some of the remote customer-facing applications to work. They
will need servers which provide http, https, and anonymous ftp.
b. The branch offices are less demanding, but they consume applications at the data centres.
They also use the network services for credit card transactions, and this requires some
thought regarding redundancy.
c. Head office 5-storey building adjacent to a 3-story building, all users consume applications
at the data centres.
5. The customer is concerned about access to the Internet and requires a proposal. The customer
wants Internet connectivity for staff and will be hosting e-mail with Microsoft’s Office 365. The
customer requires reassurance that this access will not be abused.
6. There are a range of external contractors who require real-time access to their equipment on site,
every service station has this functionality. The customer needs to know how this can be done
without breaching pci dss.
7. Business applications must be accessible to senior management when they are on the road.
Propose a solution for senior staff who are travelling.
8. The customer’s own technical staff need to be able to login remotely and the customer wants no
limitations to their access.
