Advise on Turkish Customs Law for Short-Term Travel by Car

I am looking for an expert in Turkish customs law.

I am a US citizen and am the sole shareholder and director of a Bulgarian Company. I have purchased a car in Bulgaria and registered it to my company. I have notarized documents showing I am the company director/shareholder and that the company owns the car.

As I understood Turkish customs procedure, this would be enough to enter Turkey with the car.

However, I was turned back at the border, with the customs officer saying that I needed a Bulgarian proof of residency or ‘session’ document, or an EU identification document to enter the country. The reason given by the customs officer was that this requirement derived from the fact that the car was registered in Bulgaria.

A successful applicant will display expertise in Turkish customs law.
