Recreate an exisiting logo

I have a small boutique hotel which we already have a logo that works for it, however, I am looking to make clothes and so I would like to reconfigure the logo as the one we have is to big and complicated. At the moment the logo is a Sea horse + text (The Sea Club (times new roman)). I am thinking of making a simpler version with the Sea horse confined in a circle and on the outer line of the circle include some text (maybe the sea club in small letter... Or even SINCE 1964). I have attached current logo and a logo type I would like to copy as simpler version.
